There was no big influential moment that led to Filipino civil rights like MLKJ's "I had a dream" Speech or Malcom X's assassination.
No just like Filipino Americans came, slowly and in waves so to did they get their rights.
They got their rights quietly and in the periphery.
After the 60s' more and more Filipinos expanded out of cheap menial labor as more rights were afforded to them.
For example in In 1973, Admiral Zumwalt removed the restrictions on Filipino sailors, allowing them to enter any position they qualified.
"During the late 60s and 70s Filipino Americans would take an increased leadership role...Filipino Americans [were] participants in political campaigns of [the] Democratic congressional [race]... By the end of the 60's a number of Filipino Americans had taken on visible professional and community responsibilities" (Root 301).

Now Filipinos are enjoying life in America fully. They are free to do more than just menial labor. You can find Filipinos everywhere in all walks of life and professions.
